South Middleton Township, PA – Motorcyclist Killed in Collision With SUV on Forge Road (October 8, 2026)

A motorcyclist died following a crash with a sport utility vehicle in South Middleton Township, Cumberland County, Thursday evening, according to Pennsylvania State Police. Troopers said the crash occurred at approximately 5:45 p.m. on October 8, 2026, at the intersection of Forge Road and Woodlawn Lane.

According to investigators, a motorcycle was traveling south on Forge Road as a sport utility vehicle approached the intersection from Woodlawn Lane and stopped at a posted stop sign before beginning to turn into the northbound lane of Forge Road. The motorcycle struck the driver's side of the SUV. The impact threw the motorcycle operator from the bike, and the rider came to a final rest on the pavement of Forge Road. State police said the rider was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Emergency crews responded to the scene, where the motorcyclist was pronounced dead as a result of injuries sustained in the collision. The driver of the SUV was not reported to have been injured. As of Friday morning, state police had not released the identity of the motorcyclist pending notification of family and completion of preliminary investigative steps.

Forge Road and Woodlawn Lane form a rural intersection in South Middleton Township, an area of Cumberland County that includes a mix of farmland and residential development west of Carlisle. Troopers who responded to the crash worked to document the scene and direct traffic in the area while the investigation got underway.
