Chambersburg, PA – Van Crashes Into Sheetz Sign on Lincoln Way West (October 3, 2026)
A van crashed into a freestanding sign in the parking lot of a Sheetz convenience store and fuel station on Lincoln Way West in Chambersburg, Franklin County, early Saturday morning. The crash was reported at approximately 6 a.m. on October 3, 2026, in the lot of the busy commercial location along the Lincoln Way West corridor.
Local fire crews responded to the scene after receiving reports of a single-vehicle crash involving significant damage to the van. Responders found that the collision with the sign had deformed the vehicle enough that occupants could not exit on their own. Firefighters worked to remove the van's doors in order to free the people trapped inside.
Emergency medical personnel evaluated those involved at the scene. The responding fire company reported that the occupants sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash. It was not immediately confirmed whether any of those injured were transported to a hospital for further evaluation or treatment.
Crews remained on scene for a period of time to assist with vehicle extrication, clear debris from the lot, and ensure the area was secured before reopening fully to customers and traffic. The sign that was struck sustained damage in the collision.
The cause of the crash had not been determined as of Saturday afternoon and remains under review. A full crash report is expected to be available from the investigating agency. Anyone with information about the crash is encouraged to contact that agency.
