East Lampeter Township, PA – Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash on Old Philadelphia Pike (October 1, 2026)

A two-vehicle crash in East Lampeter Township, Lancaster County, left one driver dead on Thursday morning. According to East Lampeter Township police, the collision occurred around 7 a.m. at the intersection of Old Philadelphia Pike, also known as Route 340, and Mill Creek Road, an area of the township that mixes commercial frontage with side streets feeding into the Route 340 corridor.

Police said each of the two vehicles involved carried a single occupant at the time of the crash. One of the drivers, a 20-year-old man, was transported to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. His identity had not been publicly released as of Thursday afternoon. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage in the collision, and crews on scene worked to extricate the wreckage from the roadway.

Emergency crews, including East Lampeter Township police along with area fire and ambulance personnel, responded to the intersection shortly after the crash was reported. Old Philadelphia Pike was shut down to through traffic between Lynwood Road and Eastbrook Road for several hours while officers documented the scene and the vehicles were cleared, causing delays for drivers along that stretch of the corridor during the morning commute.

The cause of the crash remained under investigation as of Thursday, and police have not said whether any charges are anticipated. A full crash report is expected to be available from East Lampeter Township police once the investigation concludes, and anyone with information about the collision is asked to contact the department.
