Metal Township, PA – Vehicle and Tractor-Trailer Collision on Path Valley Road (October 9, 2026)

A vehicle and a tractor-trailer collided on Path Valley Road in Metal Township, Franklin County, on the evening of October 9, 2026. Pennsylvania State Police and the Fannett-Metal Fire and Ambulance Company responded to the 16400 block of Path Valley Road after the crash was reported shortly before 7:40 p.m.

Emergency crews worked to free one occupant from the wreckage before the patient was extricated and taken to a hospital for treatment. The extent of the injuries had not been released as crews cleared the scene.

The crash caused roughly 200 gallons of diesel fuel to spill from the tractor-trailer onto the roadway, prompting an extended closure of Path Valley Road while crews worked to contain the spill and clear debris. The road reopened later that night, though drivers were cautioned that the pavement north of Spring Run could remain slick from residual fuel and sand used to absorb it.

The cause of the collision remained under investigation. A full crash report is expected to be available from Pennsylvania State Police once the investigation concludes, and anyone with information about the crash is encouraged to contact the investigating agency.
