South Middleton Township, PA – Woman Dies After Vehicle Struck by Tractor-Trailer on Holly Pike (September 11, 2026)

A two-vehicle crash on Holly Pike in South Middleton Township, Cumberland County, resulted in one fatality and one injury on the night of September 11, 2026. According to Pennsylvania State Police, a passenger vehicle entered the roadway from a private driveway and came into contact with an oncoming tractor-trailer at approximately 9:43 p.m.

The driver of the passenger vehicle, an 87-year-old Mount Holly Springs woman, sustained injuries in the collision and had to be extricated from the vehicle by emergency medical crews at the scene. She was transported to a local hospital, where she later died from her injuries. The driver of the tractor-trailer, a 44-year-old man from West Virginia, was evaluated for injuries described as minor and was not transported for further hospital treatment beyond an initial assessment at the scene.

Pennsylvania State Police responded to the scene along with local fire companies and emergency medical personnel serving the South Middleton Township area. Troopers remained on scene for an extended period to document the roadway, the final positions of both vehicles, and other physical evidence, which is standard practice any time a crash results in a fatality.

Holly Pike, a two-lane roadway that carries a mix of local and through traffic in this part of Cumberland County, was closed in the immediate area for approximately three hours following the crash while emergency crews worked and the on-scene investigation was conducted. Motorists were directed to use alternate routes during the closure, and the roadway was reopened to normal traffic once the scene had been cleared and all vehicles removed.
