Chambersburg, PA – Vehicle Crash on Lincoln Way East (October 29, 2026)
Emergency crews responded to a vehicle crash in the 1100 block of Lincoln Way East in Chambersburg, Franklin County, on the afternoon of October 29, 2026. The crash occurred along a commercial corridor on the eastern side of the borough, where Lincoln Way East carries a steady flow of local and through traffic throughout the day. According to information released by the Greater Chambersburg Area Paid Fire Fighters Association, IAFF Local 1813, one occupant was found confined inside a vehicle when emergency crews arrived on the scene.
Chambersburg Fire Department units, including Engine 1-1 and Ambulance 1-9, were among the first to arrive and found the occupant trapped inside the wreckage. A ladder truck, designated Tower 1, was requested to assist with the extrication, and Engine 1-1 personnel began the process of freeing the occupant while additional resources made their way to the scene. Crews completed the extrication shortly after Tower 1 arrived, and the occupant was removed from the vehicle and handed off to awaiting medical personnel.
Once freed, the occupant was evaluated at the scene by paramedics assigned to Ambulance 1-9. That evaluation followed standard emergency medical protocol applied whenever a crash requires extrication equipment to free a trapped occupant from a vehicle. Fire department officials who released information about the response did not detail the number of vehicles involved in the crash, the cause of the collision, or whether the occupant was ultimately transported to a hospital for additional treatment following the on-scene medical evaluation.
Lincoln Way East remained passable during the response, though motorists traveling through the area were urged to proceed with caution while crews worked at the scene and equipment, including the ladder truck, was positioned in the roadway. All responding fire and ambulance units returned to service once the extrication and the on-scene medical evaluation were complete.
A full crash report is expected to be available through the police agency investigating the crash. Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact that agency.
